Q: What types of models do you work with?
A: Since most of the work I do is commercial lifestyle photography, and I like to create images where the people look “real”. Being warm and approachable is usually far better than edgy and drop dead sexy. I work with models of all age levels and experience, so even if you don’t think you have what it takes to model then you might just be what I’m looking for! In many cases acting experience if far more desirable than fashion modeling experience.
Q: Do you ever work with models that are either ALT, fashion models or just edgy?
A: Sometimes yes, but to be honest there is not anywhere near as much demand for those types of models in stock photography. It is unlikely the results of your shoot will ever be successful enough in this market to push you very far up the pay scale.
Q: Do you ever shoot nudes or glamour for stock?
A: Very seldom, lets face it there aren’t a lot of commercial uses for nude images although some of the european agencies have some outlets for them. So if you have an especially beautiful body and wish to include this kind of work in your repertoire then make sure to let me know when you inquire about modeling. I have five categories of nudity so make sure you let us know what kind you are interested in: 1. Nude upper body, no face. 2. Nude upper body, with face. 3. Nude full body, no face. 4. Nude full body, with face. 5. Nude full body without showing breasts or intimate parts but showing face.
Q: Are there any age requirements?
A: None at all. I photograph people of all ages, from babies to seniors. Anyone under the age of 18 must have parent or guardian approval in order to model for me, and they also must be willing to sign a model release on your behalf.
Q: Do you pay your models?
A: Yes, I pay experienced models depending on their level of experience and our working relationship, usually ranging from $10 to $50 per shooting hour. I also do TFCD sessions for newer models as well.
Q: Do you have a makeup artist or hairstylist at each shoot?
A: Many of the images I photograph are categorized as “lifestyle” images, so I’m usually looking for a natural look (light to normal makeup) and don’t require the use of a stylist. There are some exceptions, depending on the nature of the photo-shoot, but the majority of the time I will ask you to do your own hair and makeup.
Q: How are the photos you take of me used?
A: The images I create can then be licensed by designers, bloggers, etc. to be used in advertisements, news articles and various other forms of media.
Q: Do I get copies of the images?
A: With all paid and TFP/CD arrangements I will provide you with fully-edited copies of all images used (usually around 25-50 photos, depending on the shoot). You will receive full-resolution (no watermark) and also smaller web-sized versions for personal use, printing and online portfolios.
Q: Do I have to sign anything?
A: All models, both TFCD and paid, will be required to sign a model release at the beginning of the session in order to be photographed . No exceptions.
